I just completed the last five months of my year abroad in Paris. In the first semester, I went to the Broadway version of Beauty and the Beast at the Mogador Theater. The production was magical in every way. I also visited the Sainte Chapelle twice. I put the two together to bring create this rose with the ceiling inspired by the Sainte Chapelle.
The Sainte- Chapelle is a royal Gothic, medieval chapel with colorfully painted ceilings and walls designed to look like the night sky.
In celebration of my blog’s one year anniversary, I decided to post this painting of the interior of the Gaziantep Mosaics Museum in the southeast of Turkey. This is based on a picture I took while I was there. I replaced the ceiling with the night sky. The museum collection consists of mosaics, pillars and walls excavated in ancient Zeugma (an old city within the Gaziantep Province). All the artifacts are Roman in design and nature.
