Based on a Eva Green’s role in Arsene Lupin, Marie Antoinette’s controversial diamond necklace and paintings by Whistler.

This is also inspired by my visit to the Cartier diamond exhibit in Paris. So much ice!

Pentru Mami: Daca asi putea sa te dau toate diamante din lume….

I saw orchids in the lobby at the apartment where my dear Peruvian friend, Gesabel lives.

Murder on the Orient Express

While in Paris I visited the Orient Express exhibit and walked through the wagons. It was probably the finest show I had seen in Paris. To actually walk through the legendary train and seeing it exactly as it was described by Agatha Christie her timeless novel Murder on the Orient Express was a dream.

Jazz Odalisque

“I think everything is terrible. I’ve been everywhere and seen everything and done everything. I’ve had a very bad time Nicky. I’m pretty cynical about everything … And I asked the nurse if it was a boy or a girl. And she said it was a girl. And I wept. I’m glad it’s a girl. And I hope she will be a fool. That is the best thing a girl in this world can be.  A beautiful little fool. All the bright precious things fade so fast and they don’t come back”

-Quote arrangement of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s line in the Baz Luhrmann film The Great Gatsby.

In loving memory of all the times I walked down the Seine around the Île de la Cité and Île Saint-Louis eating Berthillon ice-cream. Also for the times I walked after classes through Saint Germain des Pres looking up at the rooftops listening to the jazz soundtrack of Yves Saint Laurent.

*Painting inspired by paintings of Helena Lam who was obviously inspired by Gustav Klimt.

What Katie Davis says about this:

The detail in this is so incredible!!! I love the color scheme and I really want to have her room with such an amazing view!! I also really like how you painted all the little lights on the Eiffel Tower and how the sky has subtle gradients of blues. Very beautiful!!

The Lust of La Païva – Deadly Sin #3

Deadly Sinner #3: All the French courtesans of the 19th century

My favorite era is the French Belle Epoque of the late 19th Century. It was also a golden age of high class courtesans, scandalous dancers and sensual actresses like La  Belle Otero, Liane de Pougy, Sarah Bernhardt, Cléo de Mérode, La Païva, La Castiglione and so on.

This is also in memory of my year abroad in Paris.

2014 – Beauty and the Beast

I just completed the last five months of my year abroad in Paris. In the first semester, I went to the Broadway version of Beauty and the Beast at the Mogador Theater. The production was magical in every way. I also visited the Sainte Chapelle twice. I put the two together to bring create this rose with the ceiling inspired by the Sainte Chapelle.

The Sainte- Chapelle is a royal Gothic, medieval chapel with colorfully painted ceilings and walls designed to look like the night sky.

Here are pictures I took at the Sainte-Chapelle
